Pelican Point

This article tells of an old mine that was discovered in the late 1800's at Pelican Point (West side of Utah Lake). Could it be an old Spanish mine?

There's a painting in the DUP museum in Salt Lake City that is called something like "Cave at Pelican Point." It was painted some time in the 1860-1880's {I can't remember exactly ... but it was dated} and is a painting of the artists sons sitting in front of pictographs that are now gone due to the mining blasts they did.
